A great time was had by all who attended the Jesus Shaped People taster session on Saturday 9th February, at St. George's Church, Lupset in Wakefield where Gordon Dey led a stimulating and encouraging presentation of the JSP whole-church discipleship programme. Revd Martine Crabtree opened the morning by leading us in Morning Prayer. Gordon then introduced JSP and shared some encouraging stories from his time in ministry and the journey that has led him to develop the JSP programme. A team of people from the host church at St George’s reported back on the past two years since they first began to embrace Jesus Shaped People. They described how they had seen an increased confidence among church members to talk about Jesus, more people getting involved in small groups and mission activities, and a shortening of the time it takes for new people to get more involved and take on responsibilities in church life. Bishop Tony brought the morning to a close by blessing those present and inviting them to continue the discussion over a delicious lunch. We certainly were provided with much food for thought, and also for the body!
